The vent should have several feet of vacuum line attached to it. I tie if off on the gas tank strap so it's up and out of the way. Perhaps it's plugged, it's sounds like you have a major leak! Bob

Found the vent tube. Not clogged. DAMMIT. Bob do you have the Part # of the bearings I should get? Also I saw that you said put rtv or silicon around the bearing before install. Isnt there a O-ring that can be purchased?

That's too bad. Make sure the gear oil is filled only to the bottom of the fill plug. Overfilling is often the reason these leaks occur.

You can go into a parts store and tell them you need bearings for a 1975 Ford pick-up, you should be able to find some with o-rings.

The part number below should have the o-ring.
- Napa Replacement part numbers for nine inch wheel bearings and seals.
Bearing: 88128-R or P88128-R
Inside Seal: 15142

Put a extra seal inside the axle tube. I used the quick performance rear and national seals. Part number 51098

New axle seals and some rtv should stop it from leaking.
Just don't use "The Right Stuff" sealant that stuff is crazy sticky and was a pain in the *** to pull my axles last time to switch gears.
