Default 10 bolt what brand diff and gears

I HAVE 2002 Z28 AUTO WITH 3:42 GEARS AND STOCK DIFF. It is looking like I broke a tooth off one of the gears. Probably going to replace the diff and gears. Not sure what to get. I have Yukon gears that only had a 1 year warranty. A friend told me to go with Anburn Pro another said a detroit locker. Any thoughts?

A trutrac and a motive gear would be what I would choose. I've had good luck with the stock torsen diffs so I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it, especially behind an auto trans.

Putting money into the 10 bolt is wasting money.

Not for a grand. New S-60 will set you back closer to $3k.

No unfourtunatly. But dont listen to people like him, I've got so many ten bolts out there getting the crap beat out of them and not breaking. A properly built ten bolt is not a bad rear end, and can go pretty fast behind an auto without a hiccup. I've got some holding abuse behind m6s too.

I liked blue box motives when I had the 10 bolt in my car because they were quiet. I had 2 10 bolts redone by a friend for free, but after this last one went I bit the bullet for an s60.

Either Eaton clutch type or the Truetrac diff and Motive or US Gear ring and pinion set. I may suggest a solid pinion bearing spacer and a LPW rear girdle cover.

Give us a call... we have all the right parts and the best prices as well!

The Truetrac is definitely stronger than the stock Torsen T-2, but not much more bias than the stocker, sadly enough.

The Eaton Posi, although a different type of diff than the two above, is also very strong, and has more bias than both of them.

Is your car a A4 or M6? If it's a A4 then I guess you'll be ok with the 10 bolt like ssred said. I second the recommendation of a Eaton Truetrac. I had a Auburn that wore out in a 10 bolt that I unfortunately put money in....fool me once...not twice, went with a S60 and didn't look back.

It is an A4 with a 2600 stall. The stall don't seem to do much but I have it.

My motives took a dump at 4,000 miles for some reason..They all of a sudden started whining like a bastard. I was told that I probably was unlucky & got a bad set of gears..I just had Yukons installed. I have the Eaton TruTrac also.

Finley got the cover off the diff. It is in bad shape. The Yukon gears did not hold up very long about 6000 miles. I think it will be motive gears this time.

I installed motive gears along with a solid pinion spacer but added an LPW brace kit as well. I went from 3.73 gears back to 3.23 gears which will also add some strength because the teeth on 3.23 gears are just a little bit thicker than the 3.73's. I wish now that I would have welded the axle tubes too but was unsure about the skills of the welder and didn't want to make matters worse with bad welds.

With my ATI D1 at only 10 lbs I have 565 to the rear wheel with a Yank 3450 blower stall and Performabilt Level III. So far holding up well.
