Default How much power for a Moser 12 bolt?

I tried researching this, but came up without any definitive answers. How much RWHP can a 12 bolt take with decent traction and an M6?

I've heard some cars weighing 3800 lbs trap in the 160's with no problems. Then I heard a buddy say he though they weren't good past about 800 at the tire. Anyone know?

Anyone have any personal experience with one breaking through an M6?

I would not run a 12 bolt on a M6 car...get 9" or S60. Personally I would go with the MWC 9".

A 12 bolt with the right parts will be just fine IMO.

Just fine for what? I am trying to find out the limit. 800 RWHP? 1,000 RWHP? 1400 RWHP? Is it a power level? I would think it would depend on an automatic vs a manual. So go worst case scenario and have a manual with slicks?

Trying to find answers here, or anyone with experience in breaking one at a certain point.

It depends on a lot of things, not just power, but vehicle weight, gear, tire size. I have customers who make over 1000hp and run low 8s with a 12 bolt.

Let's say 3500lbs, 3.42's, and a 28" tire through an M6. What power would that be good for?

With 35 splines, a good spool, a good gear and a girdle I dont see why you'd have a problem. Who builds and sets the rear end up has a lot to do with it too.

I've sold a lot of 9 inch rears to people who have broken 12 bolt rears. If I were you Ben, I'd go with a fabricated 9 inch, which will also come with a torque arm and transmission crossmember. The fabricated 9 inch rears are lighter than a 12 bolt, are are stronger. Bob

what about a wave lock in a 12 bolt? my posi just went and I was thinking about going with a wavelock. I don't see you to many people running that diff in 12 bolts. 12 bolts seem to be abandoned since the posis never held up in the m6 cars. FYI I just broke my eaton HD on the street making around 500 rwhp. and high 4xx TQ. running a spool now but isn't feasible in the city to much.

Why are you stuck on a 12 bolt? Why not just go S60 or 9" and be done with it? S60s can be had ready to go for under $2500 with an Strac(lifetime warranty).

This is what I went with even though Im not making that much power. When I ordered my s60 from Carl at CRP he was telling me he has customers with 800+ hp using an s60 w/ an s-trac and he never heard of anyone breaking them.

Exactly, the S60 seems to be the best bang for the buck, as long as an extra 60 lbs or so doesnt bother you. And it does not have as much power loss as a 9 inch.
