Strange s60
I have a 2000 firebird formula with 128k. 6 speed ls1 with headers and now some et streets for when I go to the track. I just know my rear end is going to die so im already thinking about upgrading before it breaks. I am saving my money currently and have about 1500. Im looking to stay in the 2500-3000 range. So what are yalls opinions based on your experience. I have been going to the track a lot lately which is about 2 times a month. launching off the line a 4k. everything is stock except headers like I said. I am leaning towards the strange s60 which I know is overkill but I plan on keeping this car forever and basically making it my weekend car since its my daily now. Overall opinions is what im looking for

I read a lot of old posts before I bought my s60 and I'm 100% satisfied with my decision. I went with a locker, 4.10 gears, new driveshaft built by strange and the whole housing powder coated for under your $3000 mark. Talk to Carl at CRP (www.centralracingparts.com) He's a great guy to deal with and will help you any way he can. The rearend fit great, no noises, no problems whatsoever.

^^^ this guy knows what's up!
The Strange S60 is probably the best bang for the buck, but there are other choices out there. If you have a 3k budget we can for sure get you something that will do the job and last into the future for your needs.
Best thing is to give us a call and we can go over all the options considering your goals and budget. We have sold 1000s of rearends over the last several years and have a whole lot of experience setting people up with the right combination of parts for the best prices you can find!

I was about go with the S60 from CRP. But the weight factor is what had me rethinking...
So for a few hundred more, I opted for a MWC 9". You probably can't go wrong either way, but another bonus is that I get a tunnel mount torque arm with the package. That's $400+ alone if you buy it elsewhere separately.

Ya that's what I hear so that's a plus. Im jumping all over the place on rear ends but always seem to come back to the mwc 9 inch. Im stock so that's the only reason im considering doing a 8.8. But I also go to the track almost every other week and its my daily

Carl, why in the heck is the price jumping so much?
I thought you could get in on a spooled s60 for like a tad over 2k. If that's the case that's my recommendation for lots of people on a budget. If it's 2500+ I'm not gonna recommend it anymore because I think there are better overall options once you get to that price point.

Its been years since increasing the price on these even though there have been increases in the cost to mfg it. We can no longer absorb the additional cost associated with producing these.

The spooled S60 is going from $2035.00 to $2271.00 an increase of $236.00.
