Default Moaning sound from read end

So I had to replace the differential carrier in my 1997 firebird, so I figured to swap out to 4.10 gears as well. Ever since completing the project, there is either a constant moaning or sporatuc moaning coming from the back. This only applies when I'm accelerating and decelerating. And at one point the noise went away and was slightly less loud after loosening the pinion but. So does anybody know what the hell is going on here? Is it backlash or do I need to be more exact on my torque specs?

More than likely you have a incorrect pinion depth and backlash setup. If you just reused the original shims with the new gear set it's gonna be a do-over.

So more then likely the mesh between the pinion and ring gear are to tight?

I mean we adjusted the pinion but and the noise went down substantially.
