4.30 gears
Anyone running 4.30 gears in a M6, mostly street car,, I might see the track 2-3 times a year.
Just wondering how you find it around town driving?

4.10s/4.11s IMO are the min for these cars from bolt-ons up to aggressive heads/cam setups and even larger cubed N/A builds. Ive ran 4.10s in the 10 bolt, 4.30s in my M9, and now 4.57s. Ive loved em all and every time I stepped up to a steeper gear I've always been happy with the results.

I've got a set of 3.90s in my car now, I have a new set of 4.30s ready to go in the car if I want to put them in. With a 26" tire, it gives me 118mph out on the back end, 125?ish with a 28". I didn't notice much change from the 3.42s to 3.90s at all, but I imagine first gear would be completely useless with 4.30s on the street.

I had 4.30s in last year and rode around with my hoosiers on the whole time. 1 gear wasnt useless. Did just fine. Roll a 5-10 mph roll she was getting outta there. From a dig it would spin for a sec or 2 and leave out. I don't think you would be disappointed if you put them in there.

I run 4.10's on my M6 HCI LQ9 and to me it's perfect on the street n/a (not so perfect on a 125 shot though lol) but if it was mainly a track car i'd much prefer 4.30's

My car makes power to 7000, which is where I will shift at one I upgrade the fuel pump. Now, the rev limiter is set at 6800 rpm's, so on my dyno runs, I took it right to 6600/6700. Car was still making power. Currently I have a 26" tall tire, but am not at all opposed to going with a 28" tire. Rear HAS to be replaced, first and foremost. 8.8 with whatever gears I decide on will be what I do. I will try to find an 8.8 with 4.10's already in it so I can see how I like it, and then change.from there. Seems logical.

4.10s max trap with 7K RPM is 131mph with a 26" tire. 4.30s is around 125mph. If you're trapping more than 125, you either need 4.10s or a 28" tire. At which point, 4.56 and a 28" tire would give you about 128.
If you ever plan to run nitrous in your car, you're going to be right around 130+ depending on how strong the H/C package in the quarter and what you weigh. So the 4.30s and 28s might be smart and gives you around 135mph at a 7K redline.

I should have mentioned that the track i'll be racing at is 1/8, I'll be running a 26" tire. I rev the car to 6800rpm, Like someone mentioned above, I want the car to be close as possible to peak power when nearing the traps.
Pervious track was 1/4, car trap 120 with 3.90, I cant remember the actual rpm as I crossed the line, but it wasn't above 6400rpm.
