Default Help or tips on getting the diff out of my 9"

I have a MWC 9 that I am going to swap gears in. I pulled the axels and all the bolts of the center section. I can't get it to move a bit. Any tips or tricks would be great. Thanks

It's probably stuck with RTV sealant. Loosely install a couple of the pumpkin bolts/nuts to keep it from falling out then hit the snout with a dead blow hammer to break it loose.

Center section fits real snug on the 9". As suggested a dead blow hammer and a couple whacks should break it free.

I thought I was crazy. I am a tech and turn wrenches everyday so I thought I was crazy with a come along and trying to yank the center section out.

I strongly suggest to not use any hammer on any part of the 9" center section. Take all the nuts off but 1, leave it on by 1 or two turns only. Take a heavy duty gasket scraper or putty knife and wedge it between the case and housing, and use the hammer to get it between the two. You will usually need to leave at least a flat blade screwdriver in one side to help as the center section will want to rock back and forth. once you get two tools under the edges walk it out.

Anyone with the new HD Pro thru-bolt aluminum case from Strange can use the 1/4-20 holes on each side of the case to run bolts into and help break it free without having to hammer a tool in between.

I use a putty knife on mine followed up with a scraper/chisel.

Tapped in with a rubber mallet, you can usually find an edge or corner that will allow it to slip into and go from there.

I just went thru this taking mine out. We couldn't get it to come off until we put 2 little bolts in the holes that Eric mentioned above. It wouldn't even budge at all until we put those bolts in to press it off the housing.

I will give it another try Saturday, I've had mine 5-6 years it's hard to remember it's been in 2 differed cars. Best thing I ever bought, thanks to MWC. It is become a bit of a task. Just trying to not run out of gear before the end of the track.

Man the putty knife wored like a charm. It's out and at the shop for 3.50s to go in so I dont run out of gear before 1320. Thanks again to MWC!
