Default Best bang for buck rearend?

Currently rocking the stock 10 bolt (3.42 auburn 4 series carrier) with TA girgle.

Obviously this thing has its days numbered, as I'm making 530rwhp, have a 3600 stall, and 28' drag radial. Up to this point, it has performed well, but I would like a 3:90 gear, and instead of dumping money into this, I would like suggestions as to WHICH rearend is best suited for a street car, to hold 700rwhp (thinking ahead), 3:90 gears, AND will be an easy swap over to my existing setup (I know moser isn't as direct swap as the strange 12 bolt from what I've read).

What of these suspension parts will also transfer over, and which ones will need to be sold and replaced with 12 bolt/9" compatible parts?

Currently my car has:

MWC Double adjustable LCA (rod ends)
LCA relocation brackets (but these are welded on current 10 bolt)
Adj panhard bar
UMI Long Torque arm mounted on 4L60 relocation crossmember
Strange 3" chromoly driveshaft (10 bolt to 4l60 length)
stock rear springs with cut coil and isolator removed
Koni yellow shocks

28 " 555R (305/40/18) with 1" hubcentric adapter on stock 10 bolt to fit.

Edit: I'd also love to narrow the rear end on each side to fit a deeper offset (love this look)

Thanks guys, always appreciated!

LCA'S will work.
Panhard bar will work.
Springs and shocks will work.
May need a different length on the drive shaft.
LCA relocation brkt's. not needed.
Forgot the torque arm, it will not work. Will not bolt up on the rear end.

Call Eric at Midwest Chassis he can set up any rear you want to
use 12 bolt, S60, even the fabricated 9" he manufactures. He will narrow it to what length you need and install the back brace to handle a whole lot of power. He will set up any of these rear ends to be a bolt in installation just like your stock rear. The only thing he will need off of your rear end are brake backing plates and the tone rings depending on which you have the 3 or 4 channel rear.

And how did you arrive at this conclusion? Straight from UMI's website for part number 2205: "Rear Mounting Plates use 0.375" Thick Mild Steel and are designed to fit Stock as well as 12- Bolt and 9" Rear-End Housings."

Whether it fits or not will depend on what rear end you get, for example it will not work with a MWC fab 9.

Sorry about that I did not clarify which one it would not fit. The MWC fab 9".

I'm swapping out my 10-bolt for an 8.8.

They're cheap, and there are guys that will take your stock 10-bolt and press the tubes and ends into the 8.8 center so you don't have to change brakes or anything.

Fortunately for me the 8.8 I picked up for $150 is the exact width I needed it and had the exact gearing I wanted. It came from a 94-98 GT with disk brakes. I bought a 31-spline explorer diff to weld the spider gears, and had Moser get me a set of their axles with the 5x4.75 bolt pattern. I'll drill the rotors for the new bolt pattern and run everything as-is. I'm looking at $150 for the rear, $270 for the axles, $30 for explorer diff, and $50 or so for new brackets to make it work. $500 total for something basically as strong as a 12-bolt with Moser 31 spline axles, welded up posi, and disk brakes.

Since my driveshaft is trash, that's not any additional cost for me. I was going to be getting a new one either way.

Don't let the compatibility of your existing torque arm deter your decision on a fabricated 9" rear. The MWC rearend comes with it's own exclusive full adjustable torque arm and crossmember as part of the package. We run into this scenario quite often and as long as you have a good component to sel that fits an oem type mounting you will have no problem selling it and recoup most of the cost to offset the new parts.

Keep in mind that a standard configuration (oem type mount) torque arm on a standard stamped style 9" rear and some of the other aftermarket rearends will have tunnel clearance issues, even at stock ride height. In addition to that, the MWC complete torque arm is lighter than just the adapter bracket for the torque arm on a rearend like the Moser 9".

The Strange S60 is definitely a great rearend at a great price, but when you start adding up costs the 9" rear is not much more, and has a lot of benefits.

Whatever you decide on, or if you need assistance with options, MWC is the place to go for any rearend whether it be a 12 bolt, S60, or fabricated 9". We have the absolute best prices and most knowledgeable staff concerning 4th gen f-body cars. Give us a call!
