Default Rear end loud whining noise from a stock 10 bolt

I did about 8-12 races last night including a couple of dig races and rolls with other people I was racing and all of sudden I hear a loud whining noise around 35-45 MPH really loud. (just a brief history on my car, the body has 324K miles and the engine around 100K or less.) and it's annoying driving with this noise, and at first I thought it was my tires but I was doing some research that it could be the actual gearing of the rear end. The car is a '99 Trans Am A4 2:73 Gears. Any ideas or solutions would be greatly appreciated.
