Default is my posi shot?

98 ws6 100k miles.
i was putting on new wheels and noticed this:

with driver side wheel on ground but passenger rear wheel in air for tire swap, with torque wrench, i tried tightening the lugs but the wheel kept spinning. It would spin with as little as 25 ft/lbs. I could only tighten that side wheel when my kid stepped on the brake pedal. But...

when i swapped sides and had driver side wheel in the air and pass side wheel on the ground, I could NOT spin the driver side wheel even with 100 ft/lbs using my torque wrench.

So why would the drivers side be so hard to spin and pass side so easy? Diff shot? Diff fluid changed last fall at 99,5xx by previous owner (don't know if the special posi additive was added); 103xxx miles now.
