Default 8.8 third gen . ranger vs explorer

I haven't been able to find my answer yet so I figure I will post the question. I have a 85 firebird that I'm wanting to put the 8.8 in. I do not want to reuse then 10 bolt tubes. I have a explorer housing currently but can't find new tubes for it. I have heard the ranger uses 3 inch tubes meaning 9in tubes would fit. I already have the hiltsy mount 9in ends........... Everything minus axles. So my two questions I have are
1 does the ranger use 3in axle tubes?

2 does the hilsty mount fit the ranger diff housing?

Thanks in advance

What about .250" wall 3" DOM? Isn't that what most places use anyway? Re-tubing is expensive from what I've heard though.

I've only seen 1 Ranger in the boneyard but it had 3" tubes and the same 3-bolt rib on the passenger side of the pinion as the Exploder. For tube material you could also look at 2 1/2" structural pipe which is 2 7/8" od, and slips right into the Exploder 3 1/4" x 3/16" wall tubes. The pipe is ASTM A53 spec which has decent strength.
