Default BOOM!!! My driveshaft did not like the new LS1

So i finally have the LS1 broken in and running strong. I took my wife out in it for the first time and did a nice power slide that turned into a 1st and 2nd gear burn out. At about 60mph with the tires still spinning I slammed it into 3rd and the tires decided to grip hard, instant BOOM, smack on the floor board, no power to the wheels, I look back and my driveshaft was about 15 feet in the air
Got towed home last night and will have a machine shop build a much stronger unit this week.

Guess I have a new trophy to mount on the wall

Be glad you are ditching that bottle neck pile of **** drive shaft before it caused more damage at a higher speed. That is about the worst design for a drive shaft.

Be aware for a truck if it's very long and you intend to give it much RPM in 3rd gear you are going to need a large diameter driveshaft. Likely 3.5"-4" diameter chromoly steel

Read up on driveshaft critical speed for details.

Thanks, I have been doing exactly that and am looking at most likely getting a Strange Engineering 3 1/2" Chrome-moly driveshaft
