Default Sloppy 10 bolt

I have excessive end play on my axles. I replaced axle bearings, axles and rebuild maybe 150k ago. One of the seals has been leaking for the past 8 months .... sigh ....

I'm going to tear it down this weekend and see what's going on. Anything to specifically look for? Also what are the best options if the pumpkin is toast? I'm not sure that I want to put any money into it. It's a 2.73. Assuming that the axles are still good, do new bearings have any effect on the end play? ... or even still new axles and bearings?

FYI - I still have the original u-joints in the drive shaft (282,000 miles).

I don't have much to offer in the form of helpful advice for this one, however just wanted to share how impressed I am at the fact your car has 282K miles on it and you've gotten 150K since the last 10-bolt rebuild.

ROTFLMAO!! Now that's funny .....

Let's not give this thing too much credit as it's been sloppy for a while and is so bad now that I've parked it.

I would just pick up another ten bolt, they can be had for cheap...I sold my old one for $300 and it was recently serviced. If you do anything w/ your car that would warrant a s60/12/9 rear then that's a different story.

This one was built 150k ago. If I were to go the route of swapping the entire rear, it won't be a 10 bolt chevy monza rear LOL. This is an A4 and I don't dog it too hard.

Gears looked good ... and no metal in the carrier. I've got a couple of Moser axles/seals and bearings on the way.
