Default ***Need Help ASAP finding u-joint that fits stock driveshaft and 1350 yoke!***

these cars use a saginaw 3R joint and NOT a 1310 stock (even I call them 1310, dont know why). The 13xx joint dimentions are:

1310, End of Cap to End of Cap 3.219", cap dia 1.063"
1350, End of Cap to End of Cap 3.622", cap dia 1.188"

The 3R joint in these cars use 1.125 dia caps and the span is larger then a true 1310.

The precision 447 is a 3R to 1350 joint.
Precision 534 is the stock u-joint.
A 'real' 1310 to 1350 joint is a precision 348 which is not correct..
Well precision got bought out so now no one carries their 447 crossover joint anymore that I can find.

I'm in desperate need of a new u-joint so I can get my car running for work.

I have a stock sized driveshaft and a 1350 yoke on the back. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

When I was using the stock drive shaft and a 1350 in the year I had a local company do it for me. I believe they took 2 u-joints to put it together. It was only a couple months ago and they may remember doing it.

Damn that sucks... I guess I got lucky that I did my rear end swap when I did! Be sure to post up if you find a good u-joint because I'm sure lots of people will be interested.

These cars do not use a saginaw 3r. They use a Saginaw 44.
Neapco #2-1153 is a S44-1350 conversion joint. I picked one up from Carquest for 30$.

It gets confusing, if you look at a spicer and precision catalog they list our cars as a 3R saginaw (534 joint). I have no idea what the difference between a saginaw 44 and 3r is though Steve, may even be the same but I can only go by what the catalogs say.

Its hard finding someone at an auto parts store that knows how to look these things up, if you have somewhere near you that does cutom driveshafts they will have access to good cross references. I just picked up a 447 precision from a local parts store a couple days ago and they didnt say anything about not being able to get one but who knows.

If the Neapco one S_J_H has works try to get one of those..

I went to a truck supply store and found one. You can always get one from Spohn. http://www.spohn.net/product.cfm?productid=1428

Doesn't Moser/Strange supply a crossover joint with a 12 bolt? You could call them for the joint/part number I'd think...

hmmm, a 3r and 44 must be the same thing as Neapco does not even list a 3r period.. All the places I called showed a s44 as the term used and is what Neapco calls it. I suppose it just matters who's catalog you look at.
Neapco's catalog-
http://www.neapco.com/aftermarket_catalogs.php

Most places carry Neapco. They are a huge OE and aftermarket supplier. Just go ask for a #2-1153 Neapco conversion joint and your set.

One of the warehouses here has 48 precision 447 joints local and many more scattered around the country so I dont think they should be hard to get. Even the local parts store here has them in stock.

Precision was bought by federal mogul a few years ago and I doubt they are going anywhere..

I ended up getting in touch w/ a local driveshaft place, and they gave me a Naepco 2-1153 which worked great.

That was exactly what I needed.
