Default Narrowed S60 w/LT1 brakes

Hey guys how much can I narrow the housing and still utilize the stock LT1 brakes? It seems that the driver side pan hard bar mounting location will be an issue. For those thats been there, let me know what you had to do.
I want to narrow at least 2"per side, at the most 3". Thanks in advance.

From what I understand up to three inches shouldn't be a problem.

Two inches per side is the norm if you are keeping the LT1 brakes.

So is that to say that 3" per side with LT1 brakes isn't possible?

What are my options if I decide to go 3" per side? Aftermarket brakes? LS1 brakes?

2.5 per side puts it right at the PHB bracket so no with LT1 brakes -3 per side will not work. When narrowing a rear end you must make sure you can get the proper back spacing for your needs.

That would be correct because then you would have the calipers on the front and out of the way. You could do the typical -3 per side.

That depends is it an 8" wheel. 9" wheel, 10" wheel, 12" wheel? It is always best to purchase the wheels you want and then build the rear end to it.

Mount the tires on the wheels and place them under the car how you want them to sit and then measure from side to side and that will give you how narrow your rear end needs to be.

More than just brakes because the brake gap between LT and LS is different. Hopefully you didn't just purchase a rear end and someone didn't inform you on this.

Please explain what you mean by brake gap? A little bit more thorough explanation would be appreciated. Then there are drag brakes, what's the maximum narrow with drag brakes for those of us that aren't familiar? Thanks.

I'm doing a 8.8 and this is the first I have seen about this, I know the 10 bolt I got was out of a LS1 car just didn't come with the brakes, have the backing plates tho.

most of the drag brakes require the ford big ends for them to work. so that's new axles, bearings, ect.

I'm going to go ahead and get it narrowed 2" per side and use the LT1 brakes. There's a lot of members here running wheels 15x10 5.5 BS, narrowed 2" per side, and it looks absolutely fantastic. So it's all good here, thanks guys.

You can also upgrade to a Strange Engineering brakes and call it day. Unless you're able to find a complete LS1 rear brakes.

This is not true at all. We have customers swap from stock brakes to Strange brakes on a daily basis.
