Default Is it possible to buy a new rear for $2500?

So, with my tax return I'm lookin to possibly buy a rear. I'm looking for a 9" with some type of posi unit(not really wanting a spool unless I have to) ready to bolt in with 4.11 gears and LCA relocation brackets, and brackets for my stock brakes. Is it possible for 2500? I was looking at the quick performance rears but didn't see a complete option for our cars.

You are not far off one of our fabricated nine inches that come with a torque arm and crossmember. Give us a call and we can set you up with a quote. (309)382-6252

A Moser 9 inch with a spool is $2600.00 shipped. I'd knock $100.00 off of it for you so it would come in at $2500.00 shipped. Bob

Correct, and it automatically comes with lower control arm relocation brackets, sway bar mounts and brake clamps. Thanks. Bob

After almost 30 years of experience doing new builds and repairs on 9" Ford and other types of rearends almost every day, including every new 9" assembly that is sold by MWC, I will give you a bit of insight here.

I would be very cautious of a clutch type "traction lock" posi unit, especially in a car over 3000 pounds and a manual trans. They are a very weak design and are prone to flex which can cause premature gear wear and noise. I have seen it first hand and even with the best quality posi unit you can get. Also... the 31 and 35 spline axles are the same cost, so why not go with a diff unit that is much stronger, more reliable, and will accept an axle that is going to live through the abuse of a manual trans. Even aftermarket 28 and 31 spline axles are subject to warpage from the abuse they will see in a performance car application, so the same cost to go to 35 spline axles is really a no-brainer.

Give us a call, we can for sure provide you with other options that are much better concerning durability, plus we can do it for much less cost.

The Trac-Loc is a very good design that I have had very few problems with. Bob

As much as I love my FAB9, you'd need to double your budget for my setup. A moser 9 from Bob or an s60 will probably be the most cost effective options.

I got my s60 with an s-trac diff for roughly 2800 shipped 100% complete with a new driveshaft. All I had to do was send my stock backing plates to strange. Might be worth looking into if you don't mind the added weight. I know the s60 is limited on gear options, but iirc you can get 4.11 or 4.10 with it.

Like SSvert stated we can beat anyone's prices on Moser and Strange or set a customer up with one of our fabricated nine inches in multiple different configurations.

What most do not realize by the time you purchase a S60 or Moser stamped nine inch and then purchase a torque arm you spent just as much on those as you would a fabricated housing from Midwest Chassis that comes with a torque arm and crossmember. Unlike the stamped housing our torque arm design does not have the issue of making contact with the floor. The lower your vehicle is the worse this problem is.

Well there you go, they've talked you into spending twice as much as you wanted to. Bob

Well I can't swing a $4000 rear, so you're still looking good in my book.

Best bang for your buck would be an S60.
