Question differentials

Will a 1998 differential work in my 2001 Trans Am Ws6 m6? I bought one and it has a abs plate I'm guessing that is the ABS,and will it bother anything since mine has it on the axles. any info will help... Thank you

it will work if you have the same abs system. 4 channel ABS rear end can't work with 3 channel ABS car and vice versa. Also note the 98s came with the older auburn style clutch type LSD while the 99+ came with Torsen worm gear style LSD.

If the 'ABS plate' your referring to is the reluctor ring(toothed) mounted on the carrier, you can leave it or remove it,it will not interfere with your 4 channel ABS & TC system since you're still gonna be using the systems' rings on the axles. since you have an M6,your original carrier/differential is 3 series. is your replacement carrier also 3 series ?

You should probably move over to our Gears and Axles section. Here is a good thread with some info to get you started on the types of limited slip differentials. https://ls1tech.com/forums/gears-axl...al-advice.html

If I recall correctly, (I could be wrong) the 98's had posi's and the later years went to the Torsen style differentials.
