C5-C6 ZO6 Diff Swap and more
This is my introduction to the IRS world and how we plan to make this car work.
1. Split C5 Diff in half not good.
2.With RPM transmissions advice and much help from Jeremy on laying this out.
3. Found a C6 ZO6 Rear diff and cradle.
4. Sent trans with diff to RPM they went through the transmission changed transition section to mate up with C6 diff along with output shaft. Put hardened output shafts in diff and removed oil cooler.
5. Install new TQ Tube bearings drive shaft shop couplings and 3.0 alum sail shaft.
6. Waiting on parts decided to powdercoat the rear cradle black.
7. Working with Greg from gregriskracecraft.com setting up chassis. More to come but Greg did some deflection testing on the stock TQ Tube. He then fabricated a piece of aluminum and welded to the TQ tube which resulted in 60% reduction in deflection.
8. Menscer / afco coil overs installed.
9. Trans diff and TQ complete ready for install. Hinson offset diff mounts installed.
10. Install drivetrain and modify exhaust to clear C6 mounting points.
11. Greg designed his own style anti roll bar for C5-6 vette custom Fabing up now. pics to come
12. Greg has Fabed spherical Bearing in certs for mounting points and shock bushing.
13. Making exhaust over axle 3" from X pipe, removed the trunk and brought 3" duals out the center.
14. Had to remove a portion of the upper A-arms to allow for the the coil overs to not rub while jacked up.
15. Entire swapped worked out.
16. Final numbers to come.
