Default Driveshaft snapped...

I had a stock aluminum ls1 driveshaft. Im making 283 whp 351ft lb. So im not sure how that happened. Anyways, whats everyones opinions on driveshafts? Steel, aluminum, carbon fiber? In the near future my goal is making 900-1000whp when i turbo the car. It will be a daily, but ill be taking it to the track every weekend.

Thanks
Carter

Every one is better than the last. Buy what you can afford and never worry about it again.

It seems most companys dont specify how much power is cabable putting through their driveshafts. So im just curious what people are running.

What is it you do with the car? I will always recommend a carbon fiber driveshaft over any other for numerous reasons if it is in your budget followed by a 3 c/m or 3.5 alum and then the a mild steel.

cf shreds into harmless bits if it ever breaks, and has better harmonics then the metal shafts, if you can afford one.

The PST 3.5" aluminum driveshaft is good for 1000 hp, I have sold hundreds of them and they hold up very well. http://shop.brutespeed.com/PST-DRA35...-PST-DRA35.htm Bob

The length and terminal speed are also factors in the choice.

I have a 3.5 aluminum on the car and a 4" aluminum on my yukon, no complaints from either.

We have found steel to be more reliable than aluminum. BTW, aluminum shafts actually have a steel tube insert @ the built up torque end (diff.) of the shaft. The steel tube is isolated by rubber sleeves. Regardless, we snapped our aluminum shaft (we don't drag race), road course & street use only. Have no experience w/ carbon fiber.
