Default Driveshaft play

I was under my car the other day and I noticed that there seems to be a large amount of play in the driveshaft. I was able to turn it some with the rear wheels on the ground.

When making hard shifts there is a clunk from the rear end if I really let the clutch back out quick. There are no signs of diff wear or broken axles, rings, bearings, etc.

Is this bad? If so, do I have to crack open the diff to adjust it?

Thanks for your input

Its difficult to judge backlash by rotating Your driveshaft. Approximately how much is a large amount of play if You were to put it in degrees of rotation?

did you ever test for play with the vehicle drivetrain HOT after a hour of highway driving?

I had a car like that with enormous amount of play, but after a highway drive, there was NONE left. I guess the space was there for the metal to expand? It was all factory parts so I left it alone.

I had a Yukon Duragrip installed several months ago so I'll call them up and ask what is recommended (if any) amount of play.

Also possible the shop did a rush job and didn't set it up properly
