Default 2 different types of gears for the same rearmed?

I bought a set of 4.10 gears off here and they aren't going in properly... now I'm seeing in a couple places there is a 2 series and a 3 series? Is this true? If so I'm pretty sure I have the wrong ones. And it would answer a lot of questions I've been having and a **** load of cuss words and pissed offness... any help would be appreciated.

If you're talking about 1982-2002 Camaro/Firebird rears,there are 2 varieties. 2.73's and 3.08s' have 2 series carriers,3.23s' and 3.42s' have 3 series carriers.
Aftermarket gears for a 2 series carrier are 'thick' to accommodate the extra distance. 4.10s' are available in both variety.
