Default Has anyone welded there axle tubes to the housing on a 10bolt??

I was at a car show this past week and talked to a Fellow F-body owner who said they had his axle tubes welded to the housing on his stock ten bolt. He said the reason he was told the rear end cracks is that the pinion rides up on the gear and that is the reason the rear end cracks. He said the welding of the rear end and a T/A stud plate would be good to go.

I would like to hear from anyone who has done this....? Is the rear end cast....?

I'm no welder but I had my stock axle tubes welded in my old 2000 z28 10 bolt. The tubes were twisting in the housing and they were starting to leak. I brought it to a friend of mine's chassis shop and they welded them up and they stopped moving/leaking. Car was running 11.30's at the time on the stock rear with an a4 and it held up until I sold the car.
