Not sure who is saying that Denny's shafts are crap. That's certainly not my experience.
What are your objectives for the car? If its drag-only I would consider a steel shaft like the Denny Nitrous Ready (preferrably with billet slip yoke). If you're looking at road racing or some other high speed work, I would consider an aluminum shaft or carbon fiber (check out Mark Williams for CF). If its a HD street type thing you're looking for then the Denny's or LPE 3.5" aluminum shafts would probably work great. I'm sure there are more options out there, but that should be a good start.

I got mine from dynotechengineering, I'm happy with it. The price was good and it arrived 5 days after I ordered it. I was going to get a Denny's but when I called they told me the wait was 45 days.

I installed a larger U-Joint (1330) in the LPE 3.5" drivershaft to match my rear; the U-Joint can be replaced to match the standard 10 bolt rear. The driveshaft fits both A4's and M6's in LS1's and LT1's.

Strange has a good cromemoly unit for 275 and a spicer slip yoke for like 55. told them i was looking to make around 800-1000 hp on my next setup, and was told that was all i'd need. however, i like overkill, so i'll go with their next size up. i suggest giving them a call.
later,
Dave

Give us a call and we can get you set up with a great driveshaft! We have had our driveshaft's go as fast as 9.20's in a ls1 powered car, never a problem.
Let's us know if we can help
Thanks

I just bought a Denny's nitrous ready shaft with my 12 bolt and let me know, Denny is one of the nicest guy's I've yet to talk to when buying parts. He does awesome work, super guy, and plus, his nitrous ready shaft has a lifetime warranty, meaning if you twist, break it, he will replace it, free of charge, the only thing that is not covered are the yokes. I would definitely buy from Denny's again!

Unless you plan to add a bunch of power later on, I'd stick with a 3.5" alum. shaft for less rotational weight. It'll hold 12's all day long. Mine's seen atleast 50 passes in the mid-high 11's with 5000-6200 dumps on slicks. I paid less than $300 for it with 1350 spicer u joints, slip yoke and heavy duty 3.5" x .120 wall 6061 tubing from a local driveline shop. Chromoly is overkill and heavy for your power level, but it will also give you room to grow (a lot of room).
