Default Can a driveshaft make this much of a difference?

i have a head and cammed 02 ss that dyno'd at 425 hp to the wheels. Last year i ran a 12.2 at 117.5 mph in the quarter. since then, i've installed a custom 3.5" steel shaft in place of the stock aluminum piece. Today at the track, I couldn't get better than a 12.8 at 113 mph. Last year, even if i spun off the line and through 2nd gear, i would still never trap lower than 116. Is it possible that changing to a steel driveshaft cost me 4.5 mph and over half a second on my et?

Doubtful. Weather change is what I'd bet your issue is. You may have lost a tiny tiny bit of time, but definetly not more then half a tenth to a tenth (if its really heavy) by changing the DS.

I never actually weighed it, but if i had to estimate, i'd say 6-8 lbs. Another thing that baffled me was that my friend with his 04 vette that only has vararam intake, 90mm throttle body, underdrive pulley, and b&b exhaust was running 12.85 at 111. Is it possible that my car may have reacted more drastically to the weather than his did due to my tuning?

Wx changes, tuning and wear and tear as well. It is also possible there was a change in fuel quality too.
