There's a ton of info on this if you'll use the search function. You'll definitely get a boat load of info.

however it just depneds on how you drive it...people break them with 350rwhp and some people still go strong with 700+....if you have sticky tires and launch hard it will brake with almost stock type power...

On an A4, they hold up well with moderate power mod's. Mine even lasted through some 550+ RWHP launches on ET streets. The pro built tranny gave up first to my surprise! sporting a 12 bolt now though..

Depends, I never had any problems with mine but you have to ask yourself every time you launch. Do you feel...lucky?

Tire diameter and grip and launch type plays a big roll here. If you have a automatic, it will take a lot of power but if you have sticky big tires and "dump' the clutch alot, it is only a question of time before it fails.

I have a M6 car and 340 RWHP and broke the rear on 275/40/17 Nittos on the street, but thats with a few 3000 dumps at the track but only cutting 1.8 60fts. The factory rear is weak, thats my opinion

My buddie has a bone stock LT1 auto: sawblade rims/street tires, he blew his rear back when the car had 60,000mi without ever seeing a track or DR's. With your engine&gears, you walkin on thin ice man.

i posted something a while back asking the stock internal folks how fast they went and what rear they had.....to my surprise the fastest ones(low 11s) still had the stock rear(and a4s with plus 4000 stalls)....

Leaving the stock gears in I'm sure played a role in my rear not breaking as well. Mine lasted some 10.8 passes, but I doubt it would hold out forever as it started whining more and more. I think there is no question an M6 would break a rear easily with minimal to no mods at all on stickies, A4 is another story, it could hold, it could break if you throw enough at it..

It is not the HP as much as it is the torque shock load that snaps them.

what he said.....which is why the high ten-low 11 sec. cars with the high stall still had the stock rear....the stall lessens the shock......

Most definately, autos are a lot easier on rear axles than sticks! If you are one to rev it up and dump it, you better spring for extra meat back there if you want it to last.

it should hold.....but every car's different.....do you have the ta rear cover with the pinion support? that helps some.....if it's your daily driver i wouldn't push it too many times.......the closest track to me is 90 minutes away, my last time there i started hooking up decent about the tenth run, to the point were i decided to quit before the trans or rear went and i couldn't get home....i'm not even as quick as your old setup though, i'm deciding if i want to try slicks next spring or not......just by the fact that the gear and pinion are so small they won't handle the abuse like a 9" something would, but as long as the "torque shock"(like snoman said) isn't too great you should be alright...what's the tc's str? i'm not really an expert, but i think once you go upwards of 2.5 they really start to get hard on the trans and rear...maybe somebody else that has some knowledge could chime in on that.....

My car has the Auburn rear, M6 and stock gear ratio.
The car has 6700 miles, has only been to the track once and has never seen a launch over 1500 RPM.

I sprayed it on the dyno the other day, the car jumped on the dyno and dropped 477/565.
The rear leaked oil all over the dyno from some place, but it’s still holding up… (it’s only been about 50 miles though).. We shall see!
