Question Could built 10 bolt for street racing only?

I know that 12 bolt or 9'' is better for track but if I don't intend to enter the truck only street racing!! Could I built 10 bolt to make it strong to hold around 450hp rear wheel

As long as you only race from a roll, probably no problem. But do a search, lot's of guys have exploded their 10 bolts with stock power just by powershifting a stick.

I wouldn't recommend counting on it.

As long as you don't have much wheel hop on the street it should be fine. But wheel hop tends to kill these 10 bolts........

Plenty of guys and gals on this board are successfully racing w/the 7.5 10 bolts. However, they've beefed them up a little w/better axles, better posi-units, welded axle tubes, girdle type rear covers and hardened bearing cap stud bolt kits. Many of these rears are surviving 450 hp. Automatic equipped rears tend to live longer than M6's, but some stick people are making them survive, too. Again, the stock axles are the weakest point in the 7.5. Sidestepping the clutch off a 4000+ rpm launch w/sticky tires and a sticky starting line will twist a stock axle into 2 pieces like a hot knife cuts thru butter. Very good article a few months back in "Chevy High Performance" on the 7.5 rear. (May-'04). I've had very good luck with both my '99 M6 4.10 equipped SS (over 65 quarter mile passes and 11,000 miles, and my '02 A4 SS w/3.23's and Vig 3200 converter. Absolutely no problems. Another key to making these rears live: Keep the synthetic lubes out of them. (IMO). WJ.

What about synthetics hurts the rear?

I put Redline in after the T-2R/3.42s swap.

Don't know EXACTLY why, Jimmy. But the old buck who sets up all my gearsets told me that: 1. they will stay quieter way longer when abused. And,2. they will live longer. He has set up, virtually hundreds of rears, so I listen to his knowledge and successful set-up experience. Also, I believe that CHP article says basically the same thing.....How're you doing? See you've posted some real nice times with your convertible! Someday I have to talk to you about part-throttle shiftpoints.....Best wishes. WJ.

Even a built 10 bolt is not good for much more than 400 at the wheels.

Its funny how people just post knowledge from what they see over and over on the internet, then taken as fact. I know several people that have pushed and are pushing 400+whp and drive the **** out of their cars on the street. None have blown yet. Notice I did say on the street, not at the track.

I broke my 10bolt pulling into a mexican restaurant "ON THE STREET" going less than 10 MPH.

Do what you want, the 10 bolt is a POS.

Cheers.

You really think pulling into the parking lot at 10 MPH broke it? No way. That thing was in the process of coming apart for other reasons way before then.
