You can do either one or two bottles of additive, on a 12 bolt I would go 2. As far as the heavier gear lube, it will quiet it some, but not much. If it whines its the gears or bearings, seieng as how it hapens only at a certain speed, it is the gear set. Probably poor set up, but it could also be a defective gear. You can try the lube though, what would you have lost. But, I wouldnt expect much. If the noise isnt too bad, it probably isnt a bad idea.

It is probably more due to bad set up. Sometimes the gears can be lapped poorly, so they dont mesh quite the way they should. Did you set it up yourself? Some howl or whine under drive, some on coast or decceleration. It would have to be checked out.

I switched to 85-140 and it didn't make a bit of difference on the gear whine. Also, you can't run synthetic gear oil with the Eaton posi that Moser uses. It will ruin the clutches.
Moser setup is hit or miss. Mine was a miss and the gears whined terribly from day one. Also, the gears they use (US Gear) are not designed to run quietly.
If you can't stand the noise, your best bet is to buy a new set of Motive Gears and have them setup by a qualified tech.
