It was either on this site, or E-bay, not positive, but now I remember the price was $450 + shipping. He advertised 2.73, 3.23, and 3.42 rear axles...Can anyone else remember picking this thread up anywhere?I searched and came up w/nothing. Anyone? Thanks. WJ

I thought about experimenting with one. I was pretty sure I could beef up the carrier enought to get the gears to live. Talked to the Detroit rep on the power tour, he was pretty confident they had a diff that could hold 400 rwhp.
Then I did a search and saw the snapped axle shafts that were snapped by guys with bolt ons. I decided not to waste money experimenting. Do a search on "broke" and see what you get.
A little time spent on failure analysis of other peoples axles will go a long way.

The Moser C-clip replacement axles are considerably stronger and holding up well. There are guys running 10's on this board with 7.5 10 bolts. There are also guys blowing up their 12 bolts daily on this board....If I can get a full race season out of a 10 bolt, w/out breaking, (A4) and have to replace gears and bearings for next season--I'll be happy. Can do this 6 or more times before you approach the price of a 12 bolt---which is by far, not bulletproof, and takes more horsepower cause of the extra weight and friction.... My opinion.....Guess I'm a weekend track warrior beefed-up 10 bolt lover... WJ

They're $225 a pr.-retail. Don't know if any sponsors ever discount them, or not....IMO, they are well worth the money, and a easy swap-out. They come less wheel studs, of course--but here's a chance to put in legal-length wheelstuds at the same time! WJ

TRex: Some NHRA and IHRA sanctioned 1/4 mile strips require wheel studs that protrude thru open lug nuts a required certain distance. Some tracks enforce this rule when teching cars in to race---some tracks do not. WJ

I believe it's for safety purposes, such as: with open lugs and studs protruding thru, the tech person can easily see that lugs are totally fastened on studs w/a quick look; also many people use aftermarket whls with other-than-stock offsets. Again, long studs and open-ended lugs w/studs protruding thru show the tech man that the wheel is indeed fastened and that all the threads of the lug are supporting the wheel and the wheel stud. Also, cars that run certain e.t. and speeds require larger than stock diameter wheel studs. Certain cars w/slicks and considerable power have been known to shear off all 5 wheel studs leaving the starting line. All this is in the name of safety. Maybe someone else can add something constructive to what I've said....WJ
