i have a 1996 z28 with CAI,catback, under drive pulleys. I am in the process installing a 2600 vig stall with shift kit and trans cooler and 3:73 with drag radials, everybody on ls1tech tells me that i will blow my rear, its a 10 bolt 7 1/2 and those are the week ones, so i have a option, buy a 12 bolt that about 2,000 or would i be safe without doing the 3:73 and just the stall ect with out killing my rear
thanks

If I am not mistaking, it would be the 7 1/2. I do not believe they have used an 8 1/2 10 bolt in an F-body since 1981 (last of the 2nd gens).

It has the 7.625 commonly know as the 7 1/2. Same gears as found in s-10's monte carlos etc.
