Why waste the money on gears if your getting a new rear end in 29 days? That's like putting a new cam in a motor you plan on replacing, Or buying new tires for 16's when you have 17's on order, Or like eating a big meal right before thanksgiving dinner. It just doesn't make sense.

Oh ya forgot, why risk blowing it up when you can sell it when new one goes in.

That's a good price. I would still say wait for new rear however. Don't want to be stranded on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck cause you broke your ring gear. Or lose to a honda because your rear is in pieces.

Just some thoughts.

it should last until youre 12 bolt comes if you use caution.

if you start getting crazy with burnouts and hard launches you can expect it to quickly.

Have you ever tried your hand at rolling the dice? There's no telling what will happen on a roll, right? The 7&5/8" 10 bolts act EXACTLY the same as a dice roll.... WJ

Does your brother have the thicker style GM gears to work with your 2 series carrier? Even if he does I would still keep hitting the 2.73s until you get your new rear in. I personaly think just spending the money for oil and additive would be a watse, but that's just me.

I don't know, what? I'm amazed sometimes at the questions that are asked around here. Like they think someone has a crystal ball and can tell the future. My prediction might be right, who knows. Maybe we should start a pool and everyone guess when this dudes 10 bolt will explode.
