9" w/ Detriot Locker question...
I just got my Moser 9" with Detriot locker installed in my car. When Im cruising down the road at any speed I let off the gas and coast, but if I give the pedal a quick tap (raises rpms 500 or so) when the car jumps, instead of jumping striaght forward like normal, it wants to jump hard to the left or the right? I called the shop who put the rear end in and he said that it was typical of the locker to do that. He said that from a dead stop it wont do that. He said because there was no preload on the locker, when you hit the gas it locked it up wanted to jump to the right or the left....

If you are driving straight for at least 20 ft or so it SHOULD be locked and travel straight. But, if tire pressures arent equal, if you are on a heavily sloped road, or just from all the weight transfering to the right rear, it may try to pull. I drove a car with a spool that would pull right even at the track, when It was air bagged on the passenger side, it was fine. The sway bar helps also. Also, lower tire pressures will make the passenger rear tire compress some, which adds to it.

In the meantime, DO NOT change lanes and hammer it with the front wheels cocked. I ended up in oncoming traffic it was skeery.
At the track the locker works great.
I would either beef up the rear drag bar or put the front swaybar back on and take it off for racing.
I am running the Spohn rear drag bar and we love it. Nice chrome moly, bolt-in deal.
