Default 12 bolt vs. 9 inch?

What are the differences between a 12 bolt and a nine inch unit? Is one suited for a certain type of driving more than the other? advantages/ disadvantages for both?

Thanks in advance.

12 bolt- slightly less power to run, slightly less weight when built compareably, GM design(if that matters to you)
9"- stronger, more parts available (diffs- lockers and posi's, axles/splines, upgraded brgs and such), more ratios available, can build more than one 3rd member for easy ratio changes, parts are everywhere and cheap
There are other reasons, but those are the main ones I can think of right now.

Also, you need a 4 channel ABS/TCS to run a 9". With a 3 channel ABS-only, you have no choice but to go with the 12 bolts.

^ That is true. And I didn't want to disconnect my ABS, so I went with a Strange 12 Bolt.
