Default 2 & 3 series carrier question.

i have stock 2.73's (2 series carrier). i had some stock 3.42 gears given to me (from a 6-speed t/a). i then bought all of the new bearings and seals for the rear (some kit that was reccomended to me).

now, apon a recent discovery- i think im fucked. i need a 3-series carrier or 2 series 3.42 gears (have to buy them). or is it cheaper/better to get a 3-series carrier instead?

am i fucked? damn, 2.73's and my 3800 stall is getting annoying for city driving (although it rips when drag racing).

what are some good 3.42 gears (price is IMPORTANT at this point) for a 2 series carrier?

The only company that I know of that makes a 2 series 3.42 is Richmond. You could do a spacer(bad idea) or replace the case. Best option would probably be a Eaton top-spec and the 3 series gear you have. The Richmonds will probably cost you close to $200 I ouwld gusee, the Eaton should be around $350 if you get a good deal.

thanks for the info-

i think im gonna be one of the few PROUD 2.73 gear'd f-bodies. i'll show you all .

i just can't see myself spending any more $ on my shitty 10-bolt rear (already have the t/a girdle to install with stud kit). maybe i'll spring for the richmonds eventually, i had a friend bet me i'd get more than .1 out of the gears in the 1/4 or he'd buy them for me- i may take him up on it sometime but until then i'll deal with the airplane gears.

believe it or not they are wicked on the street with the stall and hot nitto's, but i have nothing to compare to but a few other stalled f-bodies with different gears/drag radials. im still torn wether or not to buy some gears or ***-it and build up some horsepower.

thoughts? best run was 12.8@ 106mph, nice weather (60's), lid, 3500 stall, hptuners partial self-tune, nitto's 1.89 60ft.

best 60ft of 1.79, usually spin the nitto's off.
