Paging TREVOR D..
So you had an L before huh?
I`ve been milling the idea of getting one of those instead of the Hawk.
What did you think of it and why did you get an F-body instead? Cabin kinda small? It`s got a little more down low than an LS1 doesn`t it? More fun on the street?
Just wondering, Thanx.

Re: Paging TREVOR D..
Dan,
The Lightning is the most fun you're going to have in a factory truck, hands down! It would run rings around my SS in terms of cornering ability. I had a Superchips flip chip and JDM filter kit, and the truck put down 368 RWHP and 431 RWTQ. I nearly fell on the floor! It makes sense once you see the weight of the truck, though. It's going to take some power to push a truck down the 1/4 to a low-to-mid 13 when it weighs in at 4,820# with a driver!
The truck averaged 10.5 MPG with town driving, so expect right around that. I didn't do a lot of "hotrodding" with it, and that's what it got. I got a best of 16.25 MPG on the highway cruising at 72 MPG w/ the a/c running.
The cabin is actually pretty big, IMO, for a reg. cab truck. It felt wider than a Silverado cab, and you have a lot of area in front of you since the dash doesn't sit in your lap. The suede seats are AWESOME to look at, but they'll get very dirty really quick. I bought a set of Wet Okole seat covers, and that took care of the wear problem from getting in and out.
The truck was fun, but I'm a diehard f-body fan at heart. I knew the potential of the LS1, and I couldn't stand not owning one after I sold my '98 T/A. The LS1 is a lot easier to go faster with IMO. I'll break into the 11's with relative ease in the next few weeks, but the Lightning seems to hit a brick wall, so to speak, once it hits the low 12's.
Feel free to shoot me an e-mail if you have any other questions!

Re: Paging TREVOR D..
As another relatively recent owner of a new Lightning (and the person who convinced Trevor to buy his ), I will ditto everything Trevor said. It was a BLAST to drive, faster than anything that big ought to be, and really more comfortable than you'd think. I honestly would not want it for my only car (truck), but for a second vehicle, it gets a big thumbs-up.

Thanx,
Dan

Yeah, look what you made me do! I paid you back, though, by convincing you to order a SOM 'vert T/A with a black top.
Dan - I'd get a converter for your car and call it good. Your car will be a completely different beast once you get a converter that will really show its potential!
