Default Fix 10bolt or 12bolt

Well i just broke my 10bolt about 3 hours ago, well i should say the torsin unit is screwed up. Cant excellerat hard or any gas in the turns. I was thinking of cheap ways to bandaid my 10 bolt for anouther season of driving and racing but not sure if it is worth it. I got richmond 4.10's in it and im thinking about putting a full spool in it or finding a cheap used open carrier and putting a mini spool in it. Just wondering if you guys think it would hold to get my car in the 11's. Or should a save and get a strange.

when i broke mine for the second time i upgraded to an auburn unit and motive 3.73s with a mac girdle.

after 500 miles i put in lucas oil.

i ran it for the first time today since i fixed it.

if it breaks ill probably just have it fixed again.

avoiding wheelhop and uneven burnoutswill help it last longer.

junk the 10 bolt and bite the bullet, i was in the same boat as you. i even took my car to the rear end shop for a new ring/pinion in the 10 bolt. luckily the guy tried to screw me and said the posi unit was shot and it would be 1k instead of 600$. no way that a grand was going into my 10 bolt lol.

i went and picked the car up and ordered the moser. its DEAD SILENT even with the 4.11's and i love it. the 12 bolt situation is a crap shoot when it comes to whine/no whine, especially with the mosers. bought mine from Speed Inc with all the bells and whistles (33 spline, eaton HD, TA cover, 3 channel ABS) for cheaper than i could find anywhere else.

p.s. - get it shipped to a business that does alot of shipping and they will get a discount. i got a 68% discount having it shipped to my work and the shipping ended up being like 115$, you do the math

I was in the same boat had to make a decision about my rear because it is on borrowed time. I think the only reason my rear is still alive is because of the thick 273 gear. I also ordered my Moser 12bolt from Speed Inc. which should be here today. I would not waste your money on your 10bolt because it is the weak link to the f-body.

The reason I chose MOSER is because it was a great price and value and a piece of mind that I won't be breaking my rear at the track and need to worry about getting home.

you wont worry about power loss when you dump the clutch at 5k on slicks and it laughs in your face, then puts the bumper on the road

and what kinda dyno did you run on and who did the tuning ?

those numbers seem very low for a g5x3, i thought they were hitting 400rwhp pretty readily.

my friends 02 z did 350tq through longtubes w/ a CATTED Y PIPE to GMMG w/ a lid being his only other mod.

I had rapid tune it. It was a 100 degree day at almost 100 percent humidity, add to that i that was through a stock throttle body,LS1 intake, and no pully. Plus those track times dont seem bad to me with the addition of the ported throttle body and true duals still running the LS1 intake.
