Default which gear in 1998 z28

I was just wondering what stock gear is in my 1998 z28 automatic transmission, and what gear (if any) would improve my quarter mile time, but still be practical as a daily driver.
Thanks in advance

The following is true for LT1 cars, but not sure if they carried it over to LS1's:

If you can manually shift to "1", you have 3.23's.
If the lowes you can go is "2" then you have 2.73's. It is possible to cut the stop out though, so if you can shift into 1st but there's no number at the shifter strip, it just means the previous owner got rid of the stop.

I don't think there's that much of a difference betweenthe 2 at the strip though (I'm sure a lot of people may disagree). My buddy and I both had similarly modded 95 Z28's. I had 2.73's & he had the 3.23's. He was consistently less than a tenth faster than me in the quarter.

Another disclaimer that the above was with LT1 cars though.

A4's came with either 2.73 (GU2) or 3.23 (GU5) - check the codes on the driver's side door. LS1's can manually shift into first, even with 2.73. 3.42's are a good all around gear if you're set on changing them.

Yup, look at your door codes sticker. 2.73 is GU2 and 3.23 is GU5. I have 2.73s and wish I had the 3.23s, I can feel a nice difference.

I went from 3.23's to 3.73's and dont regret it. Gas mileage is just about the same. Plus u get some wicked burnouts with 3.73's.
