Default What gear fluid? (Pls Stick this)

I searched for 30 minutes and I couldn't find all of the info I'm looking for.

What weight and how much fluid/additive do I need to put into my '98 rear.

I'm going to be replacing the pinion seal since it's been leaking for over 2 years now and there's prolly not much fluid left in there now.

I'm suprised there's no sticky for this yet.

Thanks!

I went with Royal Purple, and the heaviest they come in, forget exactly what weight. I just added 3.73's in my 10 bolt though, no other upgrade. The rear end takes about 3 quarts.

HI

For the Auburn use GL5 and the GM addative. You can get if from any GM dealer. Synthetic is not recommended for the Auburn differential.

I use Lucas 80W90 Heavy Duty with my Auburn Pro.
It already has the posi. additive in it.

The stock 10 bolt takes around 1.5 quarts and my 12 bolt took about 2 quarts.

thanks guys!
So for my 98, I've got an Auburn which means no synthetic.
I'll be using GL5 (1.5 qts) and the additive.
