1/2" Studs and welds question/issue

Are 1/2" lug nuts the same outer diameter as the 12mm lugnuts or will i have to drill out the holes in my rear prostars to accomodate a larger 1/2" lugnut? Please post up!

I went from stock studs to 1/2 studs with my prostars and the only thing I had to do was buy different lug nuts
