Default 9" installed,what's normal for a locker

When I make sharp turns it will lock if I get in the throttle a bit, I know this part is normal. But when I take off from a dead stand still at a red light it will (usually) clunk like it's locking and also when I get my foot off the gas. Is this tyipcal of a Detroit Locker?

Is this a true detroit locker? I've been curious about these in a car equipped with traction control. My thought convention tells me that it would not be possilbe to run TC with a locker, am I correct? Personally, rather have the mechanical advantage of that or some of the other "semi" lockers out there.

I ordered the 35 spline Detroit locker from www.LS1speed.com
Its called a Detroit Locker CTR. Here's what it looks like.

This is a true locker, just made for cars that turn left, this is why so many guys with Detroit Lockers complain that taking a right hand turn is worse thatn a left turn. And TCS still works although I always turn it off unless its raining.

Oh ok. Cool. Why didn't you go with an EZ Locker or the TruTrac? Just looking for more strength and traction for straight line and not as concerned with turning left and right?

The traction control is much more sensative since installing the locker. It works (I got caught in a little snow 6 weeks ago) but the TC does activate very easily.

I have a Detroit Locker also and I usually turn off the TC. I'm not really sure about this, but I think that the TC and locker fight each other a bit under low speed manuvering. For example when turning onto a street from a dead stop out of a driveway...if you put torque to the locker it will lock...and the inner wheel will have to slip on the pavement a little...causing the Low Traction light to come on...This is just my theory but it makes sense to me. So I always turn off the TC so it doesn't fight the locker. But in very slippery conditions like snow, when both tires are gonna spin no matter what...then it's really nice to be able to turn the TC back on!

Tru Trac Makes the Detroit Locker they are one in the same. EZ lockers are only available on 31 splines and in my experience really make lockers feel more like a posi. But IMO lockers themselves are not that bad to begin with.

DOH! I meant TracTech. Just ignore me today I keep crossing names for some reason. I also meant "soft" Lockers not EZ Lockers. EZ lockers just replace the guts of an open diff.

Sooooo..... I would love to hear anyones feedback on the True Trac though.

I run soft lockers and even it "clunks" in the turns. But I don't have to listen to any "clicks"
