or 2.73 for auto. Take a look at your console. If it goes 2, 3, D, N, R then you have 2.73.
If it goes 1,2,D,OD, N, R then you have 3.23's

I think the console applies only to the older LT1 days, my friend has an 02 Z that has the 1st gear selector yet he has 2.73's.

Check ur RPO codes on ur driver side door look for the codes that start with a GU_. GU5 is 3.23, GU6 is 3.42, and GU2 is 2.73.

put one small chalk mark on the ds and one small chalk mark on a rear tire. have a buddy roll the car back and count how many times the ds goes around per 1 tire rotation

Are you the first owner of the car? I the answer is yes, go with the RPO code like GT Griller said. It's the most simple way.

If you bought it second hand and you think the car was modified by the previous owner, then variables come into play:

What tranny?
Rear tire size?
Speedo recalibrated?

In any case, Tally TransAm's method is the more accurate.

If it has stock gears then you have 3.42's. All six speed F-bodies came with 3.42's from the factory.

GU2 = 2.73
GU5 = 3.23
GU6 = 3.42

There is no code from GM for the 3.73's (for the f-body). That gear ratio has never been a factory option for the 4th gen Camaro and Firebird.
