Default 8.8 With 10 bolt axle tubes

I have read a little on this, and no one goes into detail on the steps that are needed, such as where to cut the axle tubes on the 8.8 where to cut them on the 10 bolt etc.....
Is there a how-to on building a 8.8 for a f-body with 4 channel?

You would just have to measure both and make sure that when your done they are the correct length.

I havent found any writeups, and i doubt you will be able to retain the traction control. Someone with more indepth knowledge on how 4 channel works could tell you better.

If i were you i would go with a GM 8.5" rear instead of an 8.8, the axle tubes are the same diameter so it would be easier to spice the two. Since you will need to fab a tq arm mount for either, i would go with the 8.5".

I think you can use the TC if you use the backing plates from the 10 and you will need the rings attached to the axels, you can get some custom one with the ring option from Mosure, or how ever you spell ther name. They won't put the ring on the axel but it's no hard to do at all.

You need a jig to make sure everthing is lined up. TC is no problem, the axles just need the rings on them.

As far as the 8.5 GM goes, I don't know which one you are looking at, but the one in my c/k truck has much bigger tubes in it than the 8.8. The 10 bolt tubes fit almost perfect into the 8.8 tubes, very little clearance, with the 8.5 (based on the one in my truck) you would have a lot of clearance to make up.

Your best bet is to buy one from Cam, on this board.

Well I have a friend who is setting up a jig for the 8.8 use to be for 9 inch but parts are so much cheaper for a 8.8. So hopefully will be able to work something out this way!!
