Default quick question

if i get a richmond gear must i get a richmond install kit

or visa versa

if i get a motive gear must i get a motive kit

im getting richmond 4.10's or 4.11's or whatever they are.. there supposed to be strongest for my 10bolt... that and a t/a girdle..

now is it okay to save money adn get a motive kit.. the richmond gear install kits are expensive as hell!

By switching to a 4.10 gear you are making your ring and pinion the weakest part in your rear. Its usually the Diff or axles but the 4.10 gears are much thinner and therefore more brittle. Having said that if you do decide that is the right route for you, the Motive Install kit should be just fine.

I've had good luck out of the 3:73s there alitte thicker and have had good luck out of them not breaking so far. I usually put the master kit (all should be the same)And motive 3:73 s in my customers auto cars and they love them 4:10s in and auto with the 4l60e is really over kill as I usually say because the trans has a 3.08 first gear and thats pretty low. Plus ya better not plan on going warp speed with the 4:10s because ya going to run out of gear!
