Default Gas mileage with 4.10's in an auto...

Hey guys, i have 2.73s now with a tci ssf 4000 converter, and have a 4.10 rear waiting to go in. i am going on power tour in june, and wondering if i should wait to put the rear in until after i get back, or will there not be that much of a difference in gas mileage. thanks

4.10's in an automatic will be harsh if you do a lot of highway miles. These would be good for a city driver or a race car. If you do a lot of highway miles, the 3.73's will be better. At 75mph, you will be pulling 2,850 rpms. With 3.73's, you would be pulling 2,575rpm's.

To answer your question, not good. But then again, whats high gas prices with shitty gas mileage for an ls1 owner? (its actually pretty good for a v8)

My mods are below. I get around 14mpg-15mpg on the highway running around 70mph-75mph.

Mine has most boltons, tci 3500 stall in a built 4l60e, 4.10s and its a daily driver (on skinny front tires and no front sway bar)

city:16-19mpg (calculated with current setup)

highway: I've never calculated just highway milse but my best ever i drove 60 miles to 1/4track, made 8 passes, drove 60 miles back and got 24mpg. This was before the stall & new trans but at the time at 60mph my rpms were 2100-2300. Now with the new trans & stall at 60mph it runs around 1900-2100rpms.

The car already had 4.10s when i bought it.
