Question I think I'm paying too much

Hello All,
My rear-end blew out, and I bought new parts, 3.73's and a Detroit TruTrac + master installation kit for the 10-bolt, took it someplace, they were dumb and couldn't do it, had it towed to a dealership, and the estimate they gave me to put together the rear-end (I supplied everything necessary, even the oil and posi-trac fluid) was 640+. Now, I'm thinking this maybe WAY over what it should cost....what do you think?

That is too much for labor for an experience tech. Since you are supplying the parts, you are well over a 1K. I agree with Kakarot2569 and send the parts back. That money good be better used for a 12 bolt or 9".

Diff $500
Gears $200
Install kit $100
Labor $640
Total $1440......................too much for a 10 bolt.

You can get a 9 inch rear end for $1400 dollars that may not be drag ready but will still be more stout than your 10 bolt and much easier to upgrade down the road.

This is news to me...all of the bolt-in replacement rears for 4rth gen f-bodies are well over $2000 plus shipping....where can we find 9" rears for $1400?

You should pay about $200 for the gears install...it shouldn't matter that you are using a replacement posi.
