Default Ford 8.8"

What the general thought about the Ford 8.8"? I'm about to purchase one I think, UNLESS someone can sway me otherwise to get something different. I can save about $500-700 from your typical 12-bolt.

My friend has a T/A with an 8.8 hybrid and it's held up well. I used to have a mustang and dump the clutch all the time and never had a problem. They seem to be pretty strong.

How are you going to install it? Custom set-up?

RevXtreme said they could get me one that would bolt right up. Nice price as well. I'm excited. Except for the fact I have to spend a bunch of money. At least it's not the price of a 12-bolt or a 9" though.

I ran an 8.8 in a Mustang last year and it held up great. I've got one ready to go in a project notch too.

As far as going in a F-Body, why not just go w/ a 9"? Housings are readily available (and don't cost a fortune) and parts are cheap as hell. Circle track and drag race guys use them all the time. You can put together a pretty healthy 9" for under $1500 too.

I'd LOVE to know where you are getting your $1500 number. I haven't seen a 9" below $2000. I can get this 8.8" rear for $500-700 less than your typical strange/moser 12-bolt.

Local guy has built two for under $1500. He uses the Moser housing and axles and puts the center section together in-house. Wish I had my Moser catalog w/ me at work.

That's not too bad. The Eaton posi runs the price up for sure. There's an easy $200 difference between a posi and a spool.

Yeah this isn't a track car really so I'm not going to be running a spool or locker. It would be nice to keep abs as well.
