Just broke my rearend! 12 bolt or 9"? HELP !!!
I just broke my rearend about 4 hours ago
Well its not that it supprised my cuz I was expecting it to happen for a while now.
My car is a 2000 Camaro SS M6, daily driver, ocasionally taken to the track.
Now,I'm 100% sure that with all my future mods I dont plan to go over 400-430 rwhp, I'm at 335 rwhp right now.
I will NEVER launch my car from more than 3000-3500 RPMs.
I do sometimes, downshifts like from 4th to 2nd gear.
I only use Nitto street legal drag radials.
So actually I want be runnin a monster but just a nice little SS. - with some bolt-ons. like I said up to 430 hp the most.
Do I need to get a 9" or will the 12" one be good an off for me???
If the 12" one be just fine, than which one to get and from where?
also what else am I going to need in additon to the full assemblies that they have for sale?
Please help guys !!!????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you plan on working on it yourself in the future, replacing gears or posi unit, I would go with the 9". It is a lot easier to set up when you can take it out and put it on a bench to work on it.
Just be sure you buy the nodular iron case for the added pinion bearing support.

I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't be working with it any more in the future (unless it breaks on me) I just want to put it in and forget about it. Like I said before, I will not launch hard on it and the car is not going to have over 400-430 rwhp but I will do downshifts , so which one would be perfect for me???

I know that 9" is stronger but its also havier and its not like it is a whole lot a stronger. From what I've heard its just slightly better than a 12 bolt. So does it really make a difference if I'm planning on runnin up to 400-430 rwhp??? cuz for me weight is a big factor too..
