I've got a Detroit soft locker, which is a little quieter than the regular Detroit locker. The soft locker is 31 spline and the regular locker 35 spline. 4,000 rpm clutch dumps = no problem. A spool is a solid connection between the axles and does not lock and unlock around corners. It can be dangerous driven on the streets especially if wet. Some will dispute this.

So a detroit soft locker will unlock around corners? How quiet is your rear?

It locks and unlocks going around corners, but on a straightaway it locks both axles like a ****. It is also relatively quiet ocassionally clicking and clanking. You know you've got a locker. It is solid no give to the drive train.
