Default 9 inch soft locker

Ok, I've been really busy for the last couple months and haven't been on the board much. I was just wondering, have many people been putting in a Ford 9 inch with a "soft" locker? I would like to find someone within driving distance so I can take a ride in their car to see if it is tolerable enough for me. I think a new rearend will be my next mod. I'm ready to drag race but I'm afraid of breaking the weakass 10 bolt. Thanks guys

I've ridden in an '84 T/A(WS6, believe it or not) that had about 625 hp going into a 9" with a Detroit Locker in it. In all honesty, it was like the locker wasn't even in there. Softlockers are actually smoother AND stronger, to the point that I think that's the only kind of Detroit Locker that Tractech makes, now.

If it helps, my Jeep CJ7 has a Detroit and 33" tires, and in the year and a half I've driven it, it's clunked about 7 times. 7 SCARY times, but it they were in tight turns, and the big tires, 4.56 gears, and manual trans compounded the clunk.

You might consider a TrueTrac.

the soft lockers don't make much noise. they do "clunck" a little in the turns though

Hey guys thanks for all the responses. Sounds like the next mod to my car will probably be a 9 inch with a soft locker.

Hey Derek that sounds great. Do you have a soft locker in an f-body I am assuming? I'm in KC fairly often, so maybe I can stop by sometime. Let me know how I can contact you. Thanks man!
