Default 4.56 good or bad?

98 m6 Would 4.56s be too much? should I go 4.10s? How much quicker would 4.56s feel than 4.10s? not many mods yet. basically stock gonna get a catback then gears. Thanks for any input.

just go with the 4.10 unless you don't like gas milage, hell have you noticed the price at the pump. Plus trying to hook with that size gear would be a bitch to say the least

I'd go with the 4.10's. I'm very happy with mine. The way the gas prices are going, I wouldnt go any lower. You wont notice a big difference on the highway, but in the city you will. I still have not recalibrated my speedo, so I couldnt tell you my gas mileage specs w/ the 4.10's.

do they make 4.56's for a 10 bolt? I assumed not?

Well for one, you will not have enough tire height to do much with 4.56's. Nothing but spin the **** out of them and burn through the gears too fast. Plus it's a thinner gear, hence weaker.

I'd go with 4.56 I have the 4.10s and they ar nice, but the 4.56 would be more fun on the street. They are only 200 rpm higher on the freeway then the 4.10s which are 1900 rpm at 70 mph. The only disadvantage besides traction is you will have to go into 5th gear in the 1/4 mile unless you get taller tires. I love 1st gear in my car, and with 4.56 gears it could only be better. I can still launch the car at 2 grand and still get good traction 3 grand is pretty bad with traction unless I feather the gas until it starts to hook. This is my second car with 4.10s and I had the dealer install them for free cause the original gears went bad-they wouldn't put in anything higher unless I paid for it, so I went with 4.10s, otherwise I would have.
