New gears - please check my pattern
New set of 4.30's going in. This is with .008" lash. Can you guys please critique my pattern ? It looks a like a little too close to the heel to me, but my understanding is that to move it close to the center more I would have to decrease lash - which would bring it under the minimum .006 probably ? Do I need to adjust the pinion depth ?
Thanks in advance for the advice

Couple of things first.......
1) Measure the run out on the ring gear as it is installed right now.
2) What manufacturer of gear set is this you are working with and what pinion shim thickness is in it ?
The reason I would like you to measure run out is that the pattern isnt equal in the supplied pictures. This measurement will give me some indication of possibly why. So far it looks "crossed up" in one set of pictures and "lash tight" in the other.
There is another thing I would like to see. It will give you a better indication of what the pattern looks like by running the ring gear around a few times to allow you to also see the "wipe off" onto the teeth that do not have paint on them. This will also give you an idea of what any run out might look like.

You are correct in your first statement, more toward center. I forget how to correct for this.
Did you set these up with a pinion depth tool and use the measurement scribed on end of pinion gear. They scribe that number there for a purpose you know. I plan on buying this tool.

FRPP gears are not scribed with a number, I used the master head dimension method (measure factory head dimension and shim and use shims to get new pinion to match - for a starting point.

Add pinion shim you are too shallow. Please list what axle this is, 10 bolt or 12 bolt and what brand of gear you are using. Every gear set is made differently so using the stock pinion shim won't work everytime.
